Onions make us cry when we cut them because they release a vapour called thiopropanal sulfoxide which irritates our eyes and leads to tears. There have been many supposed remedies over the years and I confess that I have been seen cutting onions with a teaspoon hanging out of my mouth and with tears still rolling down may face.
I got these comical looking goggles as a present from my friends Susan & Jo. They certainly look amusing but do they actually work? I decided to put them to the MBLF test.
